Unable to Create a Site Page Under Search Site Collection in SharePoint? Here’s the Fix!

If you’ve tried creating a new site page in your Search Site collection in SharePoint but couldn’t find the option, you’re not alone. Even with Site Collection Administrator permissions, you may still find that the option to create a new site page is missing from Site Contents. This blog post will guide you through troubleshooting this issue and enabling the option to create site pages.

The Issue: Missing ‘New Site Page’ Option in Search Site Collection

When I first attempted to create a site page under the default Search Site collection, I was surprised to find that the option to create a new site page was not available in the Site Contents, despite having administrative access. This can be a confusing experience, especially if you’re used to working with other site collections where this option is readily available.

Troubleshooting Steps

The root cause of this issue is usually related to the activation status of the ‘Site Pages’ feature. By default, this feature is not enabled in the Search Site collection, which prevents the creation of new site pages. Here’s how to activate it:
