In modern SharePoint development, enabling an App Catalog at the site collection level provides administrators the flexibility to manage apps and custom solutions specifically within a particular site collection. This guide will walk you through enabling the App Catalog for your SharePoint site collection and explain how to access the hidden TenantWideExtensions list. Although named “TenantWideExtensions,” when used with a site collection-scoped App Catalog, the configurations are restricted to the specific site collection.

Additionally, note that the Component property file is created only if the solution is made available to all sites in the organization when deploying the package.

Prerequisites:

Before you begin, ensure that:

  1. You are a Global Administrator or SharePoint Admin.
  2. Your SharePoint Online Management Shell is installed and up to date.
  3. You have permission to access the SharePoint Admin Center.

Steps to Enable App Catalog on a Site Collection Level

Step 1: Install the SharePoint Online Management Shell

If you don’t already have it, download and install the SharePoint Online Management Shell from here.
